D20-22: Kamanjab - Gobabis (612km) - Kang (476km) - Pretoria (720km) = 1809km

D20: Kamanjab - Gobabis (612km)

Our last group photo. 

Fltr: Mrad, Inge, Tom, Siep, Johan

Tom would be travelling directly to Windhoek 

and we were headed for Gobabis.

A wonderful tar road. 

It's even better when the cattle have a herdsman.

We didn't stay on tar very long. Just after 
Otjiwarongo we took a direct road to Gobabis.

It was a wonderful dust road. 

We drove faster than we normally do (110km/hr) because time was running out. 

Oh dear!! The Toyota's backside is drifting - 

there must be something wrong?
There was!

We arrived in Gobabis after dark.

D21: Gobabis - Kang (476km)

We had pitched tent in the dark 

and just had a quick supper. 

The night was freezing. 

The -2 degrees Celsius of the night, left sleet on our windscreen the next morning.

We stopped at Die Plaaskombuis in Gobabis to buy a treat for our family in RSA - 

they love the dry wors we bring for them.

Several Herero ladies passed by - 

aren't they elegant?

As we left Gobabis, we passed these school children cheerfully marching into town.

Namibia's roads are well-maintained and 
a pleasure to travel on.

Our border crossing at Trans Kalahari border post into Botswana went smoothly.

We drove steadily SE. It was good to get to 

Kalahari Rest Camp 25km north of Kang. 

A camp fire warms the body and the soul.

Johan's delicious mussel dish complimented the fire's mission - it was our last night together. 

D22: Kang - Pretoria (720km)

The border crossing at 

Pioneer/Skilpadhek went smoothly - 

we were back in South Africa and nearing home.
The tour ended on a high note.
